HIGH ADVENTURE – GUIDING PRODUCTS AND PRICES
HIKING AROUND CAPE TOWN
SHORT HIKES (1.5 – 3 hrs) – R800 per person*
Atlantic Contour Meander from Kloof Neck along the contouring ‘Pipe Track’ across the lower west-facing slopes of Table Mountain and the Twelve Apostles buttresses. Stop for a snack in Slangolie Ravine, the end of the Pipe Track, and then return to Kloof Neck along the same route.
Constantia Contour Meander along shaded forestry roads through the pine plantations from Constantia Neck to Kirstenbosch Gardens on the lower east-facing slopes of Table Mountain’s ‘Back Table’. Have a brief walk around Kirstenbosch and a snack on the lawns then walk back to Constantia Neck (optional).
Newlands Contour Hike up to and along the contour path across the lower east-facing slopes of Table Mountain, through the forests from Kirstenbosch Gardens to the King’s Blockhouse on Mowbray Ridge. Snack stop and rest along the way. Descend down to Rhodes’ Memorial to finish the walk.
Lion’s Head Hike up Lion’s Head on the scenic Standard route that wraps up around the mountain, involving some easy rock scrambling near the top of the peak. After a panoramic snack-break on the small summit, descend down the summit ridge and the north slopes.
Table Mountain Hike up the impressive north face of Table Mountain via the popular Platteklip Gorge , or the India Venster route (involves some rock scrambling). Take the cable car back down (fares excluded in cost).
HALF DAY OUTINGS (3 – 5.5 hrs) – R1100 per person*
Table Mountain Up and down Hike and scramble up Table Mountain on the India Venster route, across the Eastern Table to Maclear’s Beacon for a brief visit and snack break, then hike back down Platteklip Gorge.
Table Mountain Over the Back Hike from above Camps Bay to Kirstenbosch up Kasteels Poort , across the Back Table and down Skeleton Gorge from sea to forest.
Silvermine Panorama Enjoy this panoramic hike in the Silvermine area, circuiting high above the reservoir/dam and visiting Noordhoek Peak for a panoramic snack break. Option of a brief, blissful swim in the dam afterwards
FULL-DAY TRIPS (5.5 – 8 hrs) – R2000 per person*
Table Mountain Meander Enjoy a day of hiking on Table Mountain, going up Kasteels Poort route up onto the Back Table and on up to the top, Maclear’s Beacon, for a packed lunch. Descend the mountain via Platteklip Gorge , or the India Venster route onto Tafelberg Road, or down Smuts Track into Kirstenbosch Gardens.
Table Mountain Tip to Tail Hike the length of Table Mountain, from Kloof Neck to Constantia Neck via Maclears Beacon, the highest point. The route taken up the mountain can involve sections of rock scrambling, if the group wants this.

CLIMBING AROUND CAPE TOWN
CLIMBING QUICKIES (2 – 3 hrs) – R950 per person*
Teaser Climb and Abseil Try out rock climbing and abseiling for a few hours with this ‘teaser’ experience in the relatively contained environment of the old Higgovale (granite) Quarry on the edge of the city on lower slopes of Table Mountain. Suitable for novices and beginner climbers.
Sport Climbing Sample sport climbing in the old Higgovale Quarry (see above). This is suitable for beginner and intermediate level climbers
HALF DAY (3.5 – 5 hrs) – R1250 per person*
Taster Climb and Abseil A ‘taster’ introduction to rock climbing and abseiling at accessible rock outcrops on Lion’s Head, or in the Silvermine area.
This is suitable for novices and intermediate level climbers.
Sport Climbing Sport climbing on the accessible crags in the Silvermine area.
This is suitable for people at all levels of ability and experience.
Trad Climbing Guided traditional climbing up multi-pitch routes on the cliffs of Table Mountain. This is definitely the best way to �climb Table Mountain’
This is suitable for people with some climbing experience, at all levels of ability. A reasonable level of fitness is required.
FULL-DAY (5.5 – 8 hrs) – R2400 per person*
Taster Climb and Abseil An introduction to rock climbing and abseiling at accessible rock outcrops on Lion’s Head, or in the Silvermine area.
This is suitable for novices and intermediate level climbers.
Sport Climbing Sport climbing in the Silvermine area and/or the Muizenberg mountains.
This is suitable for climbers with some experience who are reasonably fit for climbing.
Trad Climbing Guided traditional climbing up multi-pitch routes on the cliffs of Table Mountain. This is definitely the best way to climb Table Mountain’
This is suitable for people with some climbing experience, at all levels of ability. A reasonable level of fitness is required.
EXTENDED DAY (9 – 10+ hrs) – from R2750 per person* (POR)
Summer ‘Alpine’ Trad Climbing Guided trad climbing on classic, long mountain routes, possibly on TM, or in the hinterland of Cape Town, within a few hours drive. Long day on the mountain, involving approach and descent of several hours and a min. of 8 pitches of climbing. Suitable for those with multi-pitch trad climbing experience and good fitness levels.

Notes for guided day hikes and climbs with High Adventure

1) All guides are qualified and experienced.

2) Medical insurance – all clients should have suitable medical insurance that is valid in South Africa and covers mountaineering, including rescue/ emergency evacuation.

3) Waiver release forms are given and explained to the clients by the guide when they meet and these must be completed and signed before the guided mountain activity commences.

4) Duration – times: Third-day from about 7.30 – 10.30am; ½ day from about 7.30am to 12am; Full day is roughly from 7.30am to 5pm. The start-up time for any specific activity is to be confirmed as part of making arrangements when booking.

5) Fitness levels should be reasonably high, ideally, helping ensure enjoyment of the hiking/ climbing experience.

6) What to bring: Clients must have footwear and socks suitable for hiking, cool and comfortable clothing to walk in, a spare T-shirt or similar, warm clothing and, possibly, a waterproof shell jacket, a daypack , water, sun hat, sun block, camera (optional), extra cash (cable car, tip for guide?).

7) Transport is not included in the price but, if needed, the guide could lift up to four clients, if they are based fairly central in Cape Town, in his/ her personal vehicle for no additional cost. High Adventure can arrange transport for bigger groups than this, but the additional expense would be for the clients’ account.

8) Catering is not included in the short, day-hikes and climbs.

9) Cable car fares are not included in the above prices (where applicable).

10) Payment is to be in cash, or EFT, and paid in full before/ at the commencement of the hike.

11) Group discounts available for larger groups – please enquire

12) No V.A.T. is payable as High Adventure is not V.A.T. registered.

13) Commission for booking agents is not included in the price.

14) Routes may vary, or change depending on the weather and the clients’ needs and/or abilities.
